In 1960s India, an orphaned boy named Paarivel "Paari" Kannan is adopted by Sandhya, who raises him despite her husband's disapproval. Years later, Paari reunites with Rukmini, a veterinarian he met at his mother's funeral, and falls deeply in love. However, when Thilagan, his gangster husband, accuses Paari of sabotaging an arms deal, Paari is forced to flee and impersonate a therapist to win back Rukmini.
