Jayalalithaa, a young actress, forms a close bond with film star M.G.R. as they work together in the 1960s. As she grows older, Jayalalithaa becomes increasingly devoted to MGR, but their relationship is complicated by his marriage and her own ambitions. The two eventually part ways, with Jayalalithaa going on to become a politician who challenges the ruling party that MGR founded.
