In war-torn Sri Lanka, a pregnant woman flees with her infant daughter after her husband is killed in battle. Years later, the girl is adopted by an engineer and his family, who raise her as their own. However, on her ninth birthday, she discovers the truth about her origins and struggles to come to terms with her past.
