Cast: Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland

Box office: $639.6 million worldwide (as of 2026-07-28, per TMDb)

AI verdict: Cross-referencing the numbers: a near-record spread across IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic this tight is rare for a $250M tentpole — it typically signals a film that succeeds as both spectacle and craft, not just one or the other. Worth seeing in IMAX if you can.

Box office: $113,763,426 worldwide ($64,830,245 domestic; $29,439,929 opening weekend) · Awards: 5 award nominations

AI verdict: Masters of the Universe's 6.5 IMDb average and 52 Metascore land it squarely in 'passable adaptation' territory — respectable enough to justify Idris Elba and Jared Leto's involvement, but the $113.8M worldwide gross against a $170M budget suggests the He-Man IP didn't translate into the four-quadrant hit Amazon MGM was betting on.
